What this test is for
The Oestradiol and Testosterone Blood Test measures two sex hormones from one sample. Oestradiol is the main form of oestrogen, and total testosterone includes both the bound and free hormone. Men and women make both, in different amounts.
Men sometimes choose it when looking at tiredness, low sex drive or changes in body fat, as some testosterone is turned into oestradiol. Women may use it to explore changes in periods, skin or hair. It adds total testosterone to our Oestradiol Blood Test, and a finger prick kit is available.
Your report shows both results against reference ranges for your sex. In women, oestradiol changes across the cycle, so note your cycle day when you test. A result outside the range can prompt a repeat test or a talk with your GP.
