HRT Blood Test

What this test is for
The HRT Blood Test measures three hormones for women using hormone replacement therapy. Oestradiol is the main form of oestrogen, and progesterone is often part of HRT for women who have a womb. FSH, or follicle stimulating hormone, comes from the pituitary gland and helps control the ovaries.
Women on HRT who still notice hot flushes, poor sleep or low mood, and those whose prescriber has asked for levels, often choose it. You can test by finger prick at home.
Your report shows each hormone against its reference range, including how much oestradiol reaches your blood. Levels vary with the type of HRT and the time since your last dose, so note both when you test. Take a result outside the range to your prescriber or GP before changing anything.
