Optimal Health Plus adds cortisol, DHEA sulphate, progesterone, prolactin and PSA to our Optimal Health Blood Test, covering 63 markers. It suits adults wanting a fuller yearly health check.
What this test is for
Optimal Health Plus measures 63 markers and builds on our Optimal Health Blood Test. It covers a full blood count, liver and kidney function, cholesterol with ApoB and Lp(a), HbA1c (average blood sugar), iron, vitamin D, B12, folate, thyroid and sex hormones. It then adds cortisol, the main stress hormone, plus DHEA sulphate, progesterone, prolactin and PSA, a prostate marker.
It suits adults wanting one wide check that also covers stress hormones. PSA only applies to men and is not a cancer screening tool. The UK National Screening Committee does not recommend PSA testing for all men.
Results are grouped by area, each set against its reference range. PSA can be raised by infection, exercise, ejaculation or an enlarged prostate, and cortisol is best taken in the morning. A result outside the range can prompt a repeat test or a talk with your GP.
