What this test is for
The GLP-1 Foundation Screen measures 58 markers for people using, or considering, GLP-1 weight management medicines. It covers glucose, HbA1c and insulin, liver and kidney function, and amylase and lipase, two pancreas enzymes. It also includes cholesterol with ApoA1, ApoB and Lp(a), a full blood count, thyroid, cortisol, iron, vitamins, magnesium, zinc and P1NP, a marker of new bone growth.
It gives you or your prescriber a baseline before starting, and repeat tests show changes as weight falls. Eating less can lower iron, vitamin and mineral intake, which this panel tracks. Samples are taken in our Hull clinic or at a nurse visit.
Each result is shown against its reference range. A result outside the range can prompt a talk with your prescriber or GP, or a look at diet. The GLP-1 Advanced Cardiovascular Screen adds homocysteine and Lp-PLA2.
