What this test is for
The GLP-1 Advanced Cardiovascular Screen measures 60 markers for people using, or thinking about, GLP-1 weight management medicines. Its heart section covers cholesterol, the carrier proteins ApoA1 and ApoB, Lp(a), homocysteine and Lp-PLA2, a marker of inflammation in artery walls. It also includes HbA1c, insulin, liver, kidney and pancreas tests, a full blood count, thyroid, cortisol, iron, vitamins, magnesium, zinc and P1NP, a bone marker.
It gives a baseline before starting a GLP-1 medicine, then helps monitor changes over time. Prescribers can also use it for regular reviews. It adds homocysteine and Lp-PLA2 to our GLP-1 Foundation Screen.
Your report sets each result against its reference range, so repeat tests show clear trends. A result outside the range can prompt a talk with your prescriber or GP. Samples are taken in our Hull clinic or at a nurse visit.
