What this test is for
The Immunity Screen measures seven markers that jobs, courses and travel often ask for. It looks at IgG antibodies to measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox, plus hepatitis B surface antibodies. It also includes hepatitis C antibodies and an HIV test for antibodies and p24 antigen, a protein from the virus.
Healthcare workers, students on clinical courses and people with work or travel rules often need these results. There is a window period after any exposure, so a recent risk may need a repeat HIV or hepatitis C test.
Antibody levels can show whether you have immunity from past infection or vaccination. A negative immunity result is not a reason to arrange vaccines yourself, so talk to a clinician. A positive HIV or hepatitis C result always needs more tests and support from a clinician.
